Portraits are shot either at my studio: indoor or outdoor or on a location of your choosing. The sessions typically last 30 - 90 minutes, depending on group size, kids’ ages, clothing changes, etc.

What to wear: Generally I don’t get too hung up about the clothing - it’s more about the expressions. However here are a few guidelines.

When it comes to timeless portraits, simple clothing is best. The emphasis needs to be on the subject and not their clothing. Solid colors work well. Textures are great, but try to avoid logos, heavy stripes or busy patterns. For outdoor location portraits, casual dress is preferred.

Your clothing should be comfortable and should fit well. Clothes that are either too large or too small don’t flatter the subject! Make sure that you can sit comfortably in whatever you choose.

For groups I recommend clothing that coordinates. Think of a catalog page where clothes that look good together would be shown. Make sure each person is dressed for the same season! You may all want to be in the same color or various shades of one or two colors, with a few accent colors - perhaps on a scarf.

The most important part about the session - come ready to have fun. When you are enjoying the session, it shows in the portraits!
